UAB Alumni was set up with a clear objective: to become a large community of graduates of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. This is a young university, but one with over 150,000 graduates. Teaching staff, administration and services staff, students and former students have made the UAB a cutting-edge university in many disciplines. In mid-2023, along with a change in the relationship model between graduated people and UAB, Alumni UAB joined the Foundation of the Autonomous University of Barcelona to continue strengthening the relation between alumni and the UAB.

The institutional UAB Alumni programme has been created in the firm belief that former students, with their professional and life knowledge, have to continue to form part of the university community.

UAB Alumni works to organise and promote alumni meetings, coordinate networking and training activities with the Employability Service  and works to bring together and offer services to the most numerous of the university’s communities: its former students.

The main aims of UAB Alumni are to:

  • Promote the two-way relationship between the UAB and its graduates.
  • Promote networking and social relations among the graduates of the UAB.
  • Offer support to graduates in their search for work and in their life-long learning.
  • Offer Continuing Professional Development to graduates of the UAB.

The Hospital Clínic Veterinari (HCV) is a foundation of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona created in 1990 with two main objectives:

  • Offer a high quality external service to vets and to the public.
  • Support the teaching of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine by offering a high volume of clinical cases.

The HCV has 16 specialist medical areas which enables it to offer highly specialist care through an interdisciplinary team (the biggest in Spain and one of the biggest in Europe).

Many vets at the HCV are lecturers at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine who, aside from their teaching and research activities, offer all their clinical experience to more than 20,000 patients who visit the hospital each year, among small animals, equines and exotic animals.

The Hospital Clínic Veterinari offers almost 4,500m2 to animal care and is equipped with the latest technology for their diagnosis and treatment: CT scans, magnetic resonance imaging, surgical and ophthalmic laser, laparoscopy, arthroscopy, electrochemotherapy, phacoemulsification, fluoroscopy, hemodialysis, plasmapheresis, etc.

HCV is committed to offering a high-level service to both animal owners and other vets. The centre has been specially designed to attend cases requiring advanced diagnostic techniques, specialist care or intensive care.
