Academical and technological services

Educational support

Inclusion and Special Needs offers an educational support service. After a first interview, an educational psychologist will meet with you on a regular basis to assess together whether the accommodations and adjustments that have been implemented to help your academic progress are appropriate, shape the best curricular itinerary for you and optimise your academic performance.

We can also work with you to improve your learning and study abilities and strategies.

Exam accommodations and reasonable adjustments

If you have Special Educational Needs or a disability, you can request adaptations in your studies, also called reasonable adjustments.

The UAB has a Protocol for curricular adjustments for students with specific educational support needs. These are some of the adjustments that are usually provided in accordance to the Protocol:

  • Extended testing time
  • Bigger font size or line spacing in exams
  • Accessible exam sheets according to the student’s needs (bigger font size, Braille transcription...)
  • Human support in exams (reader, scribe...)
  • Technical aid (laptop with or without accessible software).

Adjustments that are not included in the Protocol require additional assessment by the teaching staff and the person responsible for inclusion in your faculty.

From the Psychopedagogical Advice and Inclusion Area, we will carry out an individualized assessment of your case to decide together with you what adjustments you require. If you need adjustments, see the section How to access services to find out what you have to do to access them.

IT consulting

We offer specialized consulting and training on the newest software and peripheral devices as well as other available resources that can help you in class and to access information.

We loan personal use IT resources so you can try them out before personally acquiring them. Moreover, we provide IT resources to the faculties and the teaching staff so they can use them when needed.
