Negotiating board of the action plan for gender equality in labour
We formed a special negotiating body in order to develop the lines of action of the first Action Plan for gender equality in the workplace, consisting of 26 members representing the institution and staff equally. Every member has participated in gender training by the UAB’s Unit for Training and Personal Development.
Its main function is to develop the action plan for gender equality in the workplace. In order to achieve this, 12 members of the special negotiating body formed a taskforce (5 representing the institution and 7 representing the staff).
Duties
The duties of the negotiating body’s taskforce were the following:
- Designing and developing a proposal of indicators and studies to carry out, which would be part of the action plan’s diagnostics. The proposal was designed in sessions between May and September of 2022 and approved in the commissions of July 13th and October 20th of 2022.
- Designing and implementing a survey for staff about equality policies of our university, as part of the action plan’s diagnostics.
- Designing the proposal of workplace measures to include in the plan.
- Making the proposal of the 1st Plan for Gender Equality in Labour Matters at the UAB in the V PAG.
The taskforce sessions were fortnightly or monthly, coordinated and lead by the Equality and Diversity Service. During this process, the Unit has been the entity in charge of preparing the proposals to work on, as well as collecting and implementing the changes and modifications agreed upon by the group members.
Results
The result of these sessions is the 1st Plan for Gender Equality in Labour Matters at the UAB (I PIGML), included in the UAB’s 5th Gender Equality Action Plan (V PAG). The I PIGML has been approved by the Negotiation Committee.
The V PAG anticipates a set of measures, structured in five lines of action. These lines of action are based on the diagnostics and, regarding the workplace, the negotiation process carried out by the committee. The development of the plan followed three phases:
- Carrying out diagnostics
- Proposal of measures
- Approval of the V PAG by the Equality and University Social Responsibility Committee, Governing Council delegate and the Governing Council.
