Educational psychology counselling
Our educational psychology counselling consists of weekly or biweekly meetings between the student and the professional for a definite period of time, guaranteeing absolute confidentiality. It’s not a matter of offering isolated information, but an assessment process throughout the academic year associated to a working protocol and the necessary supervision for each case. This process aims to strengthen a student’s abilities or work on their educational guidance.
Learning strategies
If you struggle with studying, time management, focusing, you doubt how to take on exams, if you’re getting back to studying but you lost the habit..., we can analyse your needs, give you tools to change your habits and work together to improve your academic reality.
Working on study strategies is not tutoring for previously failed subjects. If your difficulties are related to understanding specific content, it’s advisable to arrange a tutoring session with the professor first to identify the issues and your support needs.
If you’re experiencing personal difficulties that interfere with your studies, it is advisable to start a psychological support process via the UAB’s Health Assistance Service (SAS)..
Educational guidance
If you don’t like the degree you’re studying, you have doubts and you’re thinking of choosing a different one, we can talk and work on your educational guidance.
Through our initial interviews, we assess how a student chooses a degree, which process led to that choice, which external factors motivated it (grades, family, professional status, etc.), which previous studies they had... Once the variables that directly affect choosing a career are analysed, we look at and delve further into the process of change that the student goes through and work together in the new academic election process.
Reflection on a vocational guidance case
In this field, it’s important for the professionals at secondary education centres and universities to work in a coordinated manner so to shape the continued process that educational guidance requires as one of the fundamental goals of any education system. As a collective work experience, you can consult the ICE’s Projecte Brúixola. The Equality and Diversity Service’s psychological and educational counselling team coordinates this project at the request of the Institute of Educational Sciences (ICE).
