Protocol against harrasment
Protocol to prevent and act against sexual and sex-based harassment or on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and male chauvinist violence

14th of December of 2022, the UAB joins the Catalan universities that have a procedure to fight and prevent sexual harassment or on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression throughout the entire University community.
What is it?
The Protocol to prevent and act against sexual and sex-based harassment or on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and male chauvinist violence is a set of measures with the following purposes:
- Preventing emerging behaviours of sexual and sex-based harassment, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and male chauvinist violence among the members of the University community.
- Establishing guidelines to act on a report related to the aforementioned behaviours and, if necessary, adopting preventative or corrective measures without detriment to the affected if they choose administrative or judicial alternatives to this protocol.
- Establishing support and accompaniment measures for the affected parties.
Who is it for?
It applies to the UAB’s student body and any personnel that has or has had a working relationship or statutory link to the UAB. It also applies to personnel from external businesses hired by the UAB offering services to the University as well as users of University services or people taking part in activities in it.
Who offers accompaniment?
The Equality and Diversity Service is in charge of the reception, accompaniment and support services for those who decide to activate the Protocol. The Service makes annual reports on the reports and the enforced measures that will be taken to the University Senate.
How is it initiated?
Anyone with knowledge of an incident, whether or not they are affected, will be able to initiate it by handing in an intervention application to convene the Technical Assessment Commission (CTA) addressing the Rector along with a sealed envelope containing an account of the events. The application can be handed in at any of the University’s General Registry locations as well as any Faculty’s or Teaching Units Registrar’s Office or the Rectorate Building.
Protecting the person making the report
The protocol’s acting principles guarantee accompaniment and protection of the dignity of the people involved. The entire procedure and the documents thereof are completely confidential. Furthermore, the protocol stipulates taking all necessary measures to ensure no retaliations against those who activate it, now and in the future.
