Punt Lila (Purple Point)

Since 2018, the Equality and Diversity Service has organised, along with the Community Involvement Unit, the Punt Lila (Purple Point) of La Comunitària UAB.
The Purple Point is a space to tend to cases of misogynistic, sexual and queerphobic violence in the context of la Comunitària UAB. In particular, its responsibilities are:
- Informing the university community about the existence of the protocol and resources that the UAB offers in matters of misogynistic and queerphobic violence.
- Facilitating a space prepared for people who have suffered an aggression to get psychological care and be able to activate the protocol.
- Defining the space of la Comunitària as one that is free from misogynistic and queerphobic aggression.
The Purple Point has two specialists on approaching misogynistic and queerphobic violence cases and providing the appropriate care, who are available from 12:00 to 16:00. The student body also collaborates in pairs with the Purple Point as “Purple Point Brigades”, informing of the UAB’s protocols and resources to approach cases of misogynistic violence and offering the initial care and accompaniment of the victim of aggression in possible cases of aggression or harassment. If you want to be part of the Brigades, we convene a un training course every instance of la Comunitària.
Physical Purple Point
The Purple Point is located at the purple tent at the Plaça Cívica. In the tent, you can find resources and activities to raise awareness on misogynistic and queerphobic violence. It also has a safe space to tend to cases of violence or harassment for anyone who should need it.

Virtual Purple Point
In 2020, we created a virtual Purple Point (no longer active) to address possible cases of cyberbullying that may take place online. A support Whatsapp channel was also created as well as its own acting proceedings. This edition also had brigades.
Protocol against harassment and misogynistic and queerphobic violence in a recreational context at the UAB Campus.
The protocol was made in 2016 in order to give the University’s Security and Surveillance Service guidelines to intervene in cases of harassment and misogynistic and queerphobic violence in recreational contexts. This document was made by the Equality and Diversity Service in collaboration with Community Involvement, the Psycho-gender Unit and dedicated people and communities. It uses as a reference the protocols of the Fiesta Mayor celebrations of some districts in Barcelona (Poblesec and Gràcia) and Sabadell.
A recreational context is not a pretext to justify harassment and misogynistic and queerphobic violence. It’s important that the entire university community has awareness and can recognise these behaviours. Leering, sexist jokes, insults, humiliation, unwanted physical contact, insistence, harassment and jealousy are indicators of sexist attitudes and are regarded as such in this resource.
