What is the TAP?
The UAB Tutorial Action Plan (TAP-UAB)
is a framework document including goal definition, coordination mechanisms, tutorial action, monitoring and assessment.
The TAP-UAB’s design places the student at the centre of tutorial action. From this perspective, the UAB defines the TAP as the set of actions aimed at our students with the intention of providing integral quality support before starting university, while studying and after finishing university.
The PAT-UAB’s general objective is: “To orient, advise and offer support to the UAB students in different aspects of their learning and early professional development, with tutorial action as the main monitoring tool.”
The TAP-UAB’s development requires the involvement of all the university’s community as well as understanding that the classroom becomes a communicative and diverse space. On one hand, the classroom is communication; student information, motivation and orientation processes converge and, along with their concerns and motivations, they develop a space for reflection, learning and competence accomplishment. On the other hand, the classroom is diversity in the way that students configure a reality from their characteristics, singularities, trajectories, rhythms, abilities... To this effect, we pay attention to students’ different expectations, motivations and objectives, but also to the variables that are involved in the learning process such as age, origin, gender, previous studies or specific needs. From this perspective, the TAP-UAB’s development predicts general tutorial actions aimed at all the students throughout their university journey as well as specific supervision needs that require more concrete actions, both isolated and throughout all their studies. The development of all these actions requires the design and adaptation of the faculty development plan in order to offer the necessary instruments and knowledge to improve tutorial action.
