MeetUp inclusion

MeetUp Inclusion is a space for university students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to share experiences, doubts and strategies to cope with university life, both academic and social, at our Campus.

It is an innovative psychological and emotional guidance programme, the theoretical principles of which are born at a UNIDISCAT event in 2015 with a lecture on “Supporting students with Asperger syndrome” at the University of Oslo. Two years later, it was set in motion by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in collaboration with the Associació Espectre Autista-Asperger de Catalunya. It was carried out for the first time at UAB in 2022 by PIUNE, the former service for inclusion at the university, now integrated in the Equality and Diversity Service.

This programme consists of monthly or bi-monthly two-hour meetings, on Friday from 12:00 to 10:00 (for anyone interested, a space to have a group lunch is offered from 14:00 to 14:30). They are organised in collaboration with the Associació Espectre Autista-Asperger de Catalunya, the Inclusion and Special Needs technical personnel and, in some sessions, UAB teaching staff members. During these sessions, we work on study techniques, exam preparation skills, oral presentation skills and other topics such as relationships or facilitating tools for wellbeing.

The sessions take place at the Political Sciences and Sociology Faculty, in the classroom Aula 2 (B1/-123).

The sessions will be carried out mostly in Catalan.
