The UAB Observatory for the Equality offers several activities with gender perspective which provide recognition of academic credits.
The activities we present address gender perspective (course 2023-2024) from different professional, academic and participation areas, such as non-sexist communication, gender perspective in university environments, masculinities or the collaboration with the brigades of the Purple Point (stand to prevent gender based violence and sexual harassment).

The main objective of the workshop is the involvement of boys in gender equality and against sexist violence. We consider it essential to work with boys around their masculinity, problematizing its negative consequences in relationships, in gender inequality and, therefore, in relation to sexist violence. It is intended to offer a space for reflection and dialogue that can transcend the course itself, reaching the point of questioning the rest of the boys and men of the university.
The course program addresses: What are masculinities? What are the consequences and costs of the different masculinities? How can men and boys change and what difficulties and resistance do we encounter? How can they get involved and involve other boys and men in achieving equality and non-violence? Development of proposals and ideas aimed at boys and men of the university community.

Communicating with a gender perspective requires understanding how the speech we produce perpetuates the patriarchal and androcentric ideology of society which places women and all those people not defined from the man subject in otherness and isolation. For this reason, it is necessary to identify where and how inequality and gender-based discrimination in linguistic and audiovisual speech are expresses, implicitly and explicitly. We will learn in a practical way how to apply the different recommendations for non-sexist communication and the use of an inclusive language to gain precision and exactness in our messages.
