In order to carry out its assigned tasks, the Observatory possesses the personal and material means required. From among the university's academic personnel, the Governing Team designates the person who is responsible for the supervision of activities and guarantees a work space, assistance from specialist personnel and a budget allocation for the financing of its daily operations.

 

Maria Prats Ferret

Maria Prats Ferret is a lecturer in regional geographic analysis at the UAB's Department of Geography since 1999, after working at the Planning Studies Centre, the United Nations Development Programme and the Regional and Metropolitan Studies Institute. Currently she is a lecturer of the Degree in Geography and Spatial Planning and of the Interuniversity Master in Women, Gender and Citizenship Studies. She has been the coordinator of the Degree in Geography and Spatial Planning (2011-2014) and since 2015 she coordinates the UAB's Minor in Gender Studies.
 
Since 1993 she is a member of the SGR 0616 Research Group on Geography and Gender (UAB), which has the main goal of consolidating the feminist perspective in geography and gender mainstreaming in the field. Her research takes place in the framework of social geography from an intersectional perspective, mainly on geography and gender, childhood and youth geographies and qualitative methodologies. She has taken part in several funded projects on gender and time uses, gender and public spaces and gender, childhood and adolescence. She has been the researcher responsible for the project Geografías de la infancia y la juventud: género, vida cotidiana y prácticas espaciales (2013-2016). She has published several articles and book chapters and has directed final dissertations and PhDs related to these subjects.
 
She has also made research stays at Reading, Lisbon and CUNY universities. She is a member of the editorial board of the Documents d'Anàlisi Geogràfica and Revista Latinoamericana de Geografía y Género journals and a reviewer of specialised journals such as Gender, Place and Culture. She is a member of the Interuniversity Institute on Women and Gender Studies, where she was a member of the Permanent Commission from its creation to 2011.

Laura Duarte Campderrós
Dr. Laura Duarte-Campderrós

PhD in Sociology from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, specialised in gender inequalities of promotion in the academic career, in elaborating indicators to diagnose sexism at the university, and developing and assessing equality action plans.
She is the main Responsible Technician at the Observatory for Equality since its foundation in February 2005, and has also been member of the GESES research group from the Department of Sociology for 10 years.

Laura has managed and participated in several research projects relating to gender bias in the university, with particular attention to the factors and determinants that affect the academic career. She is author of some articles and books about gender. Among her publications, the following stand out:

Maribel Ponferrada Arteaga
Dr. Maribel Ponferrada Arteaga

PhD in Social Anthropology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2008). She is currently a researcher of the European project EGERA (Effective Gender Equality in Research and the Academia) within the Observatory for Equality. She is a member of CER Migracions UAB – EMIGRA and collaborates with the research group Family and Parenting Studies from University of Barcelona. Maribel was awarded a post-doctoral researcher ‘Juan de la Cierva’ grant by University of Barcelona (2010-2013), and a researcher grant by the Nuffield Foundation to investigate “The role of gender in shaping school performance” within the framework of the contrastive project “The Children of Immigrants in Schools in the EU and the US” (US National Science Foundation) coordinated by Richard Alba/NYU (2008-2010). She has been Associate Professor of Anthropology and Feminism at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology of the University of Barcelona, and also taught Gender and Education in the Inter-disciplinary Master’s degree of Women, Gender, and Citizenship from IIDG. Her lines of research are gender, education, social/ethnical inequalities, and gender and ethnical boundaries.

Andrea Ruedas Rodríguez, Tècnica en matèria d'Igualtat

Andrea Ruedas Rodríguez

Graduate in Political Science and Public Management at the UAB and specialist in gender (Minor in Gender). She is currently pursuing the Interuniversity Master’s Degree in Women, Gender and Citizenship Studies by the IIEDG. She has experience since 2016 in the areas of communication, graphical design and campaigns related with the area of violences.

She is also a member of the group behind the Protocol Commission in Nou Barris for the creation and implementation of a protocol against sexist attacks in leisure, organised by the association network in Nou Barris, where she has designed and revitalised the participation process for its collective writing, as well as the training addressed to organisations. She has been a trainer in several workshops on gender perspective and the implementation of protocols.

María Gonzalo Guzmán 

Intern at the Observatory for Equality, in charge of providing support in translation. Undergraduate student of the UAB's Translation and Interpreting degree. In 2020, she did an internship in the SIAS China-EU project, an inter-university project coordinated by the UAB, which aims to promote the adaptation and inclusion of Chinese students in European universities by raising awareness about interculturalism in the EU and inclusive education
