Relativity and quantum theory made their way in the period 1898-1913 and received a strong boost during the two subsequent decades, 1913-1933.

This archive, formed by 293 microfilms, was initiated in 1961 by the American Philosophical Society and gathers unpublished documentation related to the history of quantum physics and theoretical physics. You will find letters, manuscripts, notebooks and interviews from physicists such as Planck, Rutherford, Einstein, Bhör, De Bröglie, Heisenberg, etc.

The APS initiative made it possible to save exceptional documentation from oblivion and destruction. To facilitate the consultation, in 1967 the catalog Sources for the History of Quantum Physics was published.
