The UAB hosts the exhibition “Languages do not die. They are killed off” organised jointly with the NGO Linguapax Internacional and the Palau Robert.

The UAB is hosting the exhibition “Languages do not die. They are killed off” organised jointly in a consultative capacity with the UNESCO NGO Linguapax Internacional and the Palau Robert. The exhibition highlights the wealth of languages and cultures in the world and warns of the rapid loss of global linguistic diversity from a critical viewpoint (experts suggest that throughout the twenty-first century most of the world’s languages will disappear). It also shows the benefits of multilingualism and multiculturalism for both people and societies and outlines the instruments and actions that can promote them (multilingual education. language technologies, generation of new cultural means and practices, and the protection and respect for human rights). At the proposal of the Language Service of the UAB, this exhibition will form part of all the events and activities included in the UAB institutional campaign “No em toquis la llengua” (Don’t mess with my language), which will run throughout the 2022-2023 academic year.

It can be seen in the foyer of the Humanities Library until 1 December 2022. The opening will take place on 5 October at 12.30 in the exhibition space.
