1st Chess tournament of the Science and Technology Library

The tournament will be held in the renovated space of the lobby where every day pairs of players meet to play improvised games

Wednesday, November 13th, starting at 3pm, is the day chosen for the first chess tournament organized by the Science and Technology Library.

The competition, open to the entire community of the Faculties of Science and Biosciences, and the School of Engineering, wants to bring together 50 players in an 8-round Swiss system tournament. And with prizes for the first three classified. Registration opens October 21st.

The realization of this tournament has had the collaboration of the Catalan Chess Federation that will yield the necessary boards, pieces and chronometers. And it is also worth mentioning the work and desire that a group of students and chess enthusiasts have put in, especially Xavier Lara, Alejandro Cruz and Adrià Figuerola, who responded to the Library's call to find volunteers willing to make the tournament a reality. Through his mediation, Pablo Díaz-Flores, of the Badalona Chess Club, will be the referee.
