One of the functions of the Equality and Diversity Service is to make visible, raise awareness of, and promote the defense of the rights of the LGBTI+ community. To fulfil this function, from the technical unit of the SIDi we promote training activities and carry out awareness-raising campaigns on sexual and affective diversity, the rights of the LGBTI community, and the use of inclusive language and communication, among others. We also prepare and disseminate the resources that the university makes available to its community to address situations of LGBTI-phobia and to guarantee the rights of this community. As in other areas, counselling and the creation of spaces for reflection around these issues are also tasks that we carry out from the Service. In this regard, every year we organize conferences and meetings around inequalities on the grounds of gender identity and expression, and sexual orientation. At the UAB, the gender equality action plan includes specific actions aimed at promoting the rights of the LGBTI+ community.
