UAB Libraries' activities to promote the Open Access

From October 25 to 31, International Open Access Week is held around the world, an annual initiative to promote open access (AO) in academia and research. This year the motto is It matters how we open knowledge: building structural equity. Here are the different activities that the UAB Libraries have organized to promote open access:

-Training sessions

Title: Public money, public science. The how and why of the UAB journal service (ReDi).

Description: The session will talk about the ideological and technological framework in which the UAB digital journals are framed, a service focused on the edition of open access academic content. It will also explain what the service consists of, what tools are used and what conditions are needed to be able to access it. At the end of the session, the doubts raised by those attending the event will be answered.

Speakers: Pep Sansó, coordinator of scientific journals for the UAB Publications Service and Marc Bria, head of application for the UAB Publications Service.

Title: Do you want to get funding to publish in open access?

Description: Information session on transformative agreements with publishers Elsevier, Wiley, Springer-Nature and the American Chemical Society (ACS). It will explain the different ways to publish in open access, what are the transformative agreements, the result of the agreements 2021-2024, how to apply for the financing of an APC, the criteria of allocation of the UAB, the cost of the agreements and the future. At the end of the session, the doubts raised by those attending the event will be answered.
