Humberto Rivas particular: a look at his library
22/01/2020
Throughout his artistic career, Argentinian photographer Humberto Rivas (Buenos Aires, 1937-Barcelona, 2009) gathered a remarkable collection of photography books, which included specialised monographs, anthologies and exhibition catalogues, both of himself and of other contemporary photographers.
A few years after his death, the private library of Rivas was donated to the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona by his widow, painter María Helguera. The almost seven hundred volumes were deposited in the Communication Library and General Newspaper Archives.
Coinciding with the exhibition Humberto Rivas: creative process that will open at the end of January in the UAB Exhibition Hall, the Communication Library shows a selection of book from the photographer’s private library. For the election of the titles, the Library has been advised by Doctor José Antonio Aristizábal, an expert in the work of Rivas.
Visit the exhibition at the ground floor of the library. You can ask for the list of the displayed materials through the Pregunt@ service.
