Commemoration of 25N, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, in the Communication Library and General Newspaper Archives.

23/11/2022

November 25 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The date is a global outcry to denounce that women, day after day, suffer violence. That is why the Communication Library and General Newspaper Archives and the Equality Commission of the Faculty of Communication Studies propose a series of activities that help us reflect on the responsibility of communication in the construction of a more just and, therefore, egalitarian world.

From November 24 to December 22, you can visit a series of stations to think about in different parts of the Library. The patriarchy has used journalism, cinema and advertising as propaganda instruments to create and disseminate a hegemonic discourse against women's rights. The installations are intended to be a mirror of what we do and, at the same time, a proposal of what communication professionals can do to say enough to sexist violence.

The proposed tour begins at the entrance of the Library (ground floor) and continues to the fourth floor. In addition, on each floor you will find a proposal for the continuity of the activity, as well as an interactive game or digital material, which are the result of collaboration with the students of the Events Organisation and Management subject.

In the showcases on the ground floor of the Library you will see, on the one hand, a sample of books, articles, research papers and other documents that address the treatment of violence against women in the media and, on the other hand, a compilation of readings with a feminist perspective to help change the way of looking.

You can ask for the list of the displayed materials through the Pregunt@ service.

OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION AND THE TOUR: Thursday, November 24, 12:00 p.m
