Exhibition on great women economists
First exhibition in the cycle "Women in the Social Sciences"

09/03/2020

Concurrently with the opening of the exhibition "Great Women Economists", created by the Faculty of Economics and Business, which has highlighted the academic trajectories of the economists Joan Robinson, Elinor Ostrom and Esther Duflo, the Library of Social Sciences has inaugurated a series of exhibitions under the title "Women in the social sciences".

This cycle begins this year with the exhibition “Women in Social Sciences: Economics”, featuring books and journal articles written by these three economists. This is a temporary exhibition that can be visited at the Library's entrance exhibitor throughout the month of March.

The choice of Elinor Ostrom and Esther Duflo was due to the fact that they were the only women to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics. Regarding Joan Robinson, she is considered one of the most important pioneer in the field of economic theory.

The intention of the Library is to offer every year an exhibition on women in the field of Social Sciences, on the occasion of International Women's Day, collaborating with the Faculty of Economics and Business, Law and Science Politics and Sociology.

Next year, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Faculty of Law, the exhibition will be dedicated to the academic career of women in Law, under the title "Women in the social sciences: Law"
