Chronicles from the Middle East

Cròniques del Pròxim Orient
Exhibition at the Communication Library and General Newspaper Archives

27/03/2019

Many Western journalists and photographs have travelled to the Middle East to explain to the audience of their countries of origin what happens in one of the most convulsive regions of the world. All of them have met first-hand the armed conflicts, the violence, the deep human drama… and they have realized the extreme difficulty of reflecting its complexity in words and images.

Eight years after the outbreaks of the so-called Arab spring and the war in Syria, and four years after the start of the civil war in Yemen, this exhibition is a selection of written and audiovisual works made by journalists who have been there and have lived to tell it. They have provided news of the wars and the political and economic moves, but they have also given voice and have put a face to the people who inhabit these countries.

You can visit the exhibition at the ground floor of the Communication Library and General Newspaper Archives. Ask for the list of the displayed documents and supplementary bibliography through the Pregunt@ service.
