The Science and Technology Library hosts an exhibition showing a selection of the work of the illustrators Blanca Martí and Toni Llobet, who are specialists in drawing animals and plants.
The illustration of nature for scientific purposes is a discipline that emerged in the era of the great explorations. It was a type of illustration that sought to capture each discovery of nature.
With the appearance of manuals for the identification of animals and plants, a series of techniques were developed to achieve that the plates show the maximum rigor of depicting each species.
In Catalonia we have some of the most internationally recognized professionals as nature illustrators, as well as artists. With this exhibition we present a selection of the work of two Catalan illustrators, Blanca Martí and Toni Llobet.
The exhibition can be visited until October 18.
In relation to the exhibition, we have organized for the 18th of October (as a closing event), a digital illustration workshop by Toni Llobet. He will teach us in the Espai BCT how to draw animals, with a tablet or a laptop, from scratch. He will demonstrate how to draw, in a didactic tone, aimed at everyone, with or without prior knowledge.
