Published theses

PhD theses defended at UAB are published in the repository TDX (Theses and Dissertations Online) that acts as the repository of the UAB, for the purposes of what is established in RD 99/2011, of January 28, which establishes the obligation of the thesis archive in an open access repository. TDX contains, in digital format, read doctoral theses. La consulta de les tesis permet realitzar cerques al text complet, per autor/a, director/a, títol, paraules clau, universitat, any de defensa, etc.

This repository, managed by the Consorci de Serveis Universitaris de Catalunya (CSUC), and sponsored by the Generalitat (government) of Catalonia, has the following goals:

  • To publicise, around the world and on the Internet, the results of university research.
  • To offer the authors of theses a tool to increase public access to their work, enhancing its visibility.
  • To stimulate the open scientific production.

According to data from the CSUC, the UAB is the number 1 university in Catalonia in terms of doctoral thesis output. Almost a third of all theses read within the Catalan university system are read at the UAB. 26.3% of the theses deposited in the TDX were from PhD programmes at the UAB. In the context of the whole of Spain, the thesis repository TESEO receives around 10,000 theses per year, of wich over 6% are from PhD programmes at the UAB.


Thesis NOT published in TDX at the time of defense

For those doctoral theses that were not integrated into the TDX at the time, there is the possibility of incorporating them by following the following instructions:

The doctor sends the Library Service (pi@uab.cat) the file of the doctoral thesis that was deposited at the time without any change or modification, together with a summary of the thesis of a maximum of 600 words for each of the languages ​​in which the abstract must be made: Catalan, Spanish and English, plus this document filled out and electronically signed. The Library Service will locate the thesis on paper and check that the content does not differ. In the event that there is no electronic version of the thesis or that the content of the file has changed substantially, the paper copy will be digitized, as an interlibrary loan request, so that the applicant is the one who will be made. charge of the cost of this digitization. To consult the cost of digitisation, please request a budget from the Interlibrary Loan service, by e-mail to pi@uab.cat .

The Publications Service will incorporate the thesis and the information into the TDX.
