Finalists of the 9th edition of "Thesis in 4 Minutes" to present their theses on 12 May

The final of the "Thesis in 4 Minutes" competition, in which PhD students present their thesis during a maximum of four minutes, will take place on 12 May at 12 noon at the Doctoral School. The event will be streamed live on the UAB's YouTube channel.

From 2 to 16 March the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona's School for Doctoral Studies opens its "Thesis in 4 Minutes" 2026 call, a competition in which PhD candidates are challenged to explain their research in just four minutes using accessible language. The final competition will take place on 12 May at the Bellaterra campus and will be streamed live on the UAB's YouTube channel.

The UAB presents this year's extraordinary PhD degrees and awards

The UAB awarded this year's extraordinary PhD degrees and awards in an institutional ceremony that took place on 7 November at the Hotel Exe Campus in the Vila Universitària. UAB Vice-Rector for Research Assumpció Malgosa addressed the new PhD graduates to invite them to "maintain their social commitment" and "be ambassadors to the world", both for "their critical thinking" in general and for the UAB, "a leading university internationally recognised for the quality of its research".
