Students admitted to Bachelor's degree courses during and after the 2026-2027 academic year

You can obtain academic recognition of activities aimed at improving your knowledge, competence and use of languages for up to a maximum 12 credits, except students on double degree courses who can only obtain up to 6 credits.

Students registered for courses focussed on language learning cannot receive recognition for additional training in the same language.

There is a limit to the total number of credits you can obtain which you can find at the end of this information.

Which language training courses are recognised?

6 credits for the accreditation of a language obtained during the Bachelor's degree course in which you require recognition (except for degree courses taught in that language or aimed at teaching it):

For each of the 8 following sections only one accreditation can be recognised, respecting the maximum limit for language training which is 12 credits.

1. Accreditation of a complete level of a foreign language with which the student has gained a place at the university through the public university entrance exam (PAU or CFGS), from level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) or equivalent.
2. Accreditation of a complete level of a foreign language that is different from that with which the student has gained a place at the university through the public university entrance exam (PAU or CFGS), from level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) or equivalent.
3. Accreditation of a level of Spanish as a foreign language, in the case of students entering the university from an educational system in a country that does not have Spanish as an official language, from level C1 of the CEFR or equivalent.
4. Accreditation of Catalan as a foreign language, in the case of students entering the university from an educational system in a country or  autonomous community that does not have Catalan as an official language, from level A1 of the CEFR or equivalent.
5. Accreditation of levels of Occitan (Aranese), in the case of students entering the university from an educational system in a country or county that does not have Occitan as the language of teaching, from level A1 of the CEFR or equivalent.
6. Accreditation of having passed level C2 of the CEFR or equivalent in Catalan, Occitan (Aranese) or another official language other than Spanish in an autonomous community.
7. Accreditation of having passed sign language courses taught by institutions recognised by the departments [FK1] with responsibility for education.
8. Any other training leading to an improvement in knowledge and competence in foreign languages not included in section a) to g)  above, provided they are accredited by certificates from an official institution and can be referenced by the Language Service of the UAB on the levels of the CEFR scale. In these cases the limit is 3 credits according to the level in question and the number of training hours involved.

Certificates that can be used to accredit the level of language competence:

1. Certificates issued by the Language Service of the UAB for passing a complete level on the CEFR.
2. Certificates recognised by the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia and the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities, via the tables published by the Language Service, provided the level accredited corresponds to a complete level on the CEFR scale.
3. Certificates issued by other official institutions, provided the level accredited corresponds to a complete level on the CEFR scale and is validated by the Language Service.
4. Certificate of having passed sign language courses issued by a department with responsibility for education.
