Conference: New/old masculinities to rethink ways to be a man
Event details
- Beginning: 26 November 2025
- Sala Cine UAB
Diego Falconí Trávez is a lawyer specialized in human rights and holds a degree in humanities from the Universidad San Francisco de Quito. He holds a PhD in Literary Theory and Comparative Literature from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, focusing his research on cultural studies and gender theory.
In this lecture, Falconí will reflect on new and old masculinities, questioning the idea that new ways of being a man can be created without considering identity complexities and historical genealogies. From an intersectional perspective, the types of masculinities, social roles, and representations will be analyzed, with the aim of proposing strategies to deconstruct hegemonic masculinity and enhance other forms within the current social context.
