Laura Carbonero presents two studies on inclusion and cooperative learning at an international congress in Cádiz
Laura Carbonero Sánchez, a researcher at the Institut de Recerca de l’Esport of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, took part in the 13th International Congress on Cooperative Physical Activities, held in Cádiz from July 1st to 4th, with the presentation of two communications.

The first paper, presented individually, is titled “Cooperative learning in the teaching and learning process of sports: A case study in primary school Physical Education classes.” In it, Carbonero presents the results of her doctoral thesis, based on a single case study with 5th and 6th grade students. The study highlights the potential of cooperative learning to improve knowledge acquisition, classroom climate, and students’ active participation. However, it also emphasizes the need for prior methodological adaptation and the high level of teacher involvement required.
The second communication, titled “Cooperative play and the inclusion of children and families with disabilities in urban public spaces,” was co-authored with Jordi Finestres (Institut Guttmann) and Carolina Nieva (UAB). Framed within the municipal project “Barcelona, playable city,” this research proposes the inclusion of professionals specialized in cooperative play and inclusion in public parks to encourage the participation of children with disabilities, thus promoting their social inclusion and ensuring their right to play.
Laura Carbonero holds a PhD from the UAB, is a Physical Education teacher, and has a degree in Pedagogy. She is currently a lecturer in the Department of Didactics of Musical, Visual, and Physical Expression at the UAB. Her research focuses on Physical Education and sport as tools for social and educational inclusion. She collaborates with the Social and Educational Research Group on Physical Activity and Sport (GISEAFE) at INEFC Barcelona and has participated in several studies on gender, health, values, and cooperation.
Her participation in this congress strengthens the visibility of the Institut de Recerca de l’Esport and highlights the relevance of applied research in educational and social contexts.
