History

The Sport Research Institute of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (IRE-UAB) was approved on November 27, 2018 by the UAB Social Council and its creation was officially published in the Official Journal of the Generalitat of Catalonia on January 17, 2020.

The UAB Sport Research Institute was born with a strong interdisciplinary character, bringing together the different lines of sport-related research carried out at the UAB, as well as the offers of training and transfer of knowledge in this area.

With the creation of the Institute, the UAB strengthens its commitment to a healthy and sustainable model of society through research, the transfer of knowledge and the training of professionals.

The Institute therefore assumes the knowledge, experience, projection and international relations of the Olympic and Sport Studies Centre (CEOiE-UAB), as well as the research groups and research staff that carry out research, training or transfer in the field of sport at the UAB.

The main objective of the UAB Sport Research Institute is to promote research in the field of sport from a multidisciplinary perspective in collaboration with the departments and research groups of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, ​​while also facilitating cooperation with national and international research institutes.
