Homage to Jaume Cruz, sport psychology researcher

Tribute has been paid to Dr. Jaume Cruz, member of IRE-UAB, within the framework of the event to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Master's degree in Psychology of Sport and Physical Education UAB-INEFC.

Dr. Jaume Cruz was one of the promoters of the first master's degree in sports psychology in Spain

Dr. Jaume Cruz, Professor Emeritus of the Department of Basic, Evolutionary and Educational Psychology, was the promoter of the research group of Studies in the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity at the UAB and one of the promoters of the first master's degree in sports psychology in Spain. These official master’s degree studies are currently a benchmark in the training of future professionals in sports psychology, being the most recognized in their specialty in the whole of Spain and in Latin American countries. For thirty years, it has trained more than 350 professionals to carry out interventions and research in the psychology of sport and physical activity.

The inaugural session of the conference was attended by the Acting Director of the UAB Sports Research Institute, Dr. Emilio Fernández Peña. Dr. Fernández Peña emphasized the relevance of sports psychology studies at the UAB and their key role in the future of the new Institute.

In the event also participated the Dra. Tatiana Rovira, dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Dr. Jordi Fernández, director of the Department of Basic, Evolutionary and Educational Psychology at the UAB, Mr. Jordi Solà, director of the National Institute of Physical Education of Catalonia (INEFC). The event was closed by Dr. Josep Ros, Vice-Rector for Academic Programming and Quality at the UAB.

The conferences took place on 6 and 7 February at the UAB Faculty of Psychology.
