Collaboration with the UNESCO Kazan Action Plan for sport and sustainable development

The UAB Sports Research Institute participates in the Catalan Advisory Group for the action five of the UNESCO Kazan Action Plan, assumed by the government of Catalonia. The project aims to promote sport as a tool for sustainable development and peace.
 

Acció 5 Pla d'Acció Kazan

Action five of the Kazan Action Plan aims to build a clearinghouse for sharing information on sport and physical activity public policies. The work plan is structured in three phases. In the first phase, a database on sports public policies will be developed; In the second phase, an international observatory on public policies on sport for development will be created; and in the third phase, the second Sports and International Cooperation Congress will be held.

The Catalan advisory group is made up of representatives from universities working in sport - INEFC, IRE-UAB, URL-GRIES, UdG-EUSES, URV and UVic. The group will be mainly involved in the project through the international observatory on public policies for sport for development.

Action five of the Kazan Action Plan is a transversal project of the Catalan government promoted by the Department of Foreign Action, Institutional Relations and Transparency -through the General Directorate for Development Cooperation-, and the Department of the Presidency -through the General Secretariat of Sport and Physical Activity.

The 6th conference Sixth Conference of Sports Ministers (MINEPS VI) approved the Kazan Action Plan. The plan places sport as a potential tool for sustainable development, and as a strategic tool to improve health, fight against social exclusion and gender inequality, facilitate inclusion, reduce conflicts and situations of violence, and promote culture of peace. Action five of the Kazan Action Plan deals with information on public policies for sports and physical activity with the aim of measuring how they have contributed to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
