Cooperation and Education for global justice

Presentation

The “Education for Sustainable Development at the University” (ESDU) project is an initiative of the FAS for the specific and transferable promotion of perspectives of EfD in the formal university setting. The aim is to strengthen the role of the university in the generation of critical knowledge and in the production of citizens who are active and committed to change in the face of inequality on a local and global scale.

In place since 2013-2014, the project has promoted the articulation of a set of participation processes aimed at the design and implementation of formulas for the curricular integration of EfD at the UAB and in Catalonia as a whole. It is being carried out with the collaboration of the Association of Catalan Public Universities (ACUP) using a networking strategy to bring together faculties and centres, teaching staff, students, offices for university cooperation and other organisations, with the support of Barcelona City Council.

ESDU is organised into two main working areas which include, on the one hand, actions to influence student training, the promotion of research and an improvement in the teaching quality and innovation at the UAB, and, on the other, actions for the coordination and revitalisation of spaces for reflection and work within the framework of the Catalan public university system and outreach activities with an international perspective.
