Companionship and support activities during a hospital stay

Spend some time in hospitals with children and young adults and their families, or residents of care and nursing homes, helping with their recovery and overall well-being.

This is a programme of companionship in health and social care that helps to improve the quality of life of hospital in-patients and care-home residents, and that of their families and other carers.

As a volunteer you will form part of a team carrying out activities to further the psycho‑emotional and affective recovery of young hospital in-patients and to offer companionship and support to dependent adults.

WHO IS IT FOR?
Young in-patients (aged from 0 to 17) in the Vall d’Hebron Maternity and Children's Hospital. Elderly in-patients in the Hospital del Mar Forum Centre, who are undergoing rehabilitation and palliative care for degenerative diseases.

WHERE AND HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
Offering companionship and support to dependent adults through personal well-being activities. These consist of workshops and other activities on corporal expression, group dynamics for emotion management, and physical activity, together with practice in cognitive skills.

WHEN?
Two or three hours per week from Monday to Saturday in the afternoon, or on Friday or Saturday mornings.
