This 23rd of January, the Vives Network of Universities (Xarxa Vives d’Universitats) has published the fourth phase of the Guides to mainstreaming gender in university teaching collection. Six new titles have been added, offering proposals, examples, teaching resources and tools of inquiry for incorporating the gender perspective of the following degrees: Physical Activity Sciences and Sport; Agricultural Engineering; Naval, Marine and Nautical Engineering; Geography, Museology and Museography; and Tourism. The guide of the Geography degree has been elaborated by two researches of the UAB’s Geography and Gender Research Group, Mireia Baylina and Maria Prats, who is also the director of the Observatory for Equality of the UAB. The 28 guides are available free of charge on the Vives Network website in Catalan, Spanish, Galician and English.

The Guides to mainstreaming gender in university is pioneering initiative in the European Higher Education Area. It is led by the Gender Equality Working Group of the Vives Network, made up of the Equality Units of 22 different universities, including the Observatory for Equality of the UAB. Therefore, the initiative stems from the commitment of these units to the promotion of comprehensive policies to favour gender equality, the principle of equal opportunities and diversity in teaching and research. Since its creation in 2018, it has been recognised by the European Institute for Gender Equality and the European Commission. The project currently has the support of the Catalan Women’s Institute (Institut Català de Dones).
