The UAB to commemorate International Day of People with Disabilities on 28 November
The 6th Institutional Event Commemorating International Day of People with Disabilities will take place on 28 November at 12:30 p.m. at the conference hall of the Rectorat building. Anna Matamala Ripoll will give a conference entitled “Fem xarxa per a una comunicació accessible: recerca i transferència” and the Impuls grants will be given to UAB students with disabilities.

The 6th Institutional Event Commemorating International Day of People with Disabilities will take place on 28 November at 12:30 p.m. at the conference hall of the Rectorat building. This year is dedicated to accessibility in communication and information at university level.
The event will begin with an introduction by Secretary General Esther Zapater. Afterwards, Anna Matamala Ripoll, professor in the Department of Translation and Interpretation and East Asian Studies, will give a lecture on networking for accessible communication through research and knowledge transfer, entitled "Fem xarxa per a una comunicació accessible: recerca i transferència". During the conference, she will present the ATHENA project being developed by the Transmèdia Catalonia group, which is researching audiovisual translations and information accessibility in different media.
The event will also include the awarding of the Impuls grants to students with disabilities at the UAB. These grants are part of the Impuls Programme, created by the Fundació Autònoma Solidària and financed by the UAB Social Council. Recipients receive financial aid for personal assistance and mobility during class hours. In this way, the Impuls grants aim to facilitate the full participation of this group at the UAB.
In 2018, the UAB approved the Second Action Plan on Disability and Inclusion of the UAB (2018-2023), an instrument to articulate policies for disability care and inclusion in the university environment. Students also receive the supported of the UAB's PIUNE association.
