Academic Council

The Academic Council is the body responsible for overseeing the academic activity of the School and is composed of representatives of academic staff, students and technical and management staff from all programmes and degrees offered at the School.

The Academic Council of the School shall consist of:

  • The Technical Management
  • Seven members of the teaching staff delivering courses at the School, including the Directors of the programmes in Tourism and Hotel Management, Prevention and Integral Security, and Archival Science and Document Management
  • Five student representatives, representing the School’s programmes
  • Two members of technical and management staff

Members who hold their position by virtue of office may delegate their participation in the sessions of the Council. The terms of office of the remaining members shall be two years from the date of constitution.

The Academic Council shall meet ordinarily at least once a year and extraordinarily at the initiative of the Technical Director or at the signed request of at least one third of its members.

Functions

The functions of the Academic Council of the School are as follows:

  • To be informed of the School’s general strategic lines of action
  • To monitor the School’s quality policy and the Internal Quality Assurance System, and to make proposals regarding its maintenance and improvement
  • To propose improvements in aspects affecting the School’s teaching activity and its links with professional career paths
  • To propose amendments to the School’s regulations for submission to the Steering Committee
  • Any functions assigned to it by the Steering Committee or by the applicable regulations

Within the scope of its functions, the Academic Council assumes the role of advisory body in matters of quality, providing recommendations and strategic guidance for the continuous improvement of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS).

In order to specialise in the analysis of information and to formulate well-founded proposals for strategic guidance aimed at improving the IQAS, a Quality Committee has been established within the Academic Council.

This approach ensures that teaching quality and educational innovation remain central to decision-making processes, in accordance with the standards established by AQU Catalunya and the criteria of the European Higher Education Area.

Functions of the Quality Committee

The functions of the Quality Committee are as follows:

  • Monitoring and evaluation of the quality system
  • Review and analysis of quality-related data
  • Preparation of improvement proposals
  • Promotion of a quality culture
  • Review of the development and evolution of the IQAS
