External placement offers for the Bachelor's degree in Criminology
Lists for the 2024/2025 Academic Year by Chosen Specialization
The curricular external placements for the Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology carry 12 optional ECTS credits, equivalent to 300 hours, of which 200 hours are completed at the placement centre and 100 hours are devoted to students' participation in seminars and group tutorials, as well as to the preparation of the final report. The work placement timetable will be established according to the nature of the placement and the availability of the collaborating entity.
In any case, the timetable must be compatible with the student’s academic and training activities at the university. Therefore, the chosen specialization must be taken into account, and the placement should be carried out during the semester with a lighter academic workload. (Students enrolled in the Prevention and Security specialization undertake their placements during the first semester, and those in the Criminal Execution specialization during the second semester. Exceptionally, placements may also be carried out during the summer period.)
At the beginning of each semester, a list will be published containing the catalogue of available placements at the collaborating centres, generally indicating the activities to be carried out.
Students may select six placement destinations in order of preference.
The allocation of placements will be based on the student’s academic record and their level of direct involvement in the design of the placement project to be developed.
The training project that specifies the implementation of each external academic placement will be defined once the placements have been allocated to the students, and it must set out the educational objectives and the activities to be carried out.
The objectives will be established taking into account the basic, general and/or specific competences that the student is expected to acquire.
The content of the placement will be defined in such a way as to ensure a direct relationship between the competences to be acquired and the studies undertaken in the Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology.
For the completion of the work placements, students are assigned both a supervisor from the collaborating entity and an academic tutor from the university.
The placement supervisor will be a person linked to the host organization, directly responsible for monitoring and supervising the student’s activities within the institution. This person must have professional experience and the necessary knowledge to provide effective supervision.
The academic tutor will be a lecturer from the Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology, responsible for facilitating the student’s integration into the host institution and for monitoring their progress throughout the placement by means of seminars and group tutorials.
The assessment will be carried out taking into account the final report prepared by the placement supervisor and the placement report (which must include information about the host organization where the placement took place, a description of the tasks performed, the problems encountered and the procedures followed to solve them, an evaluation of the knowledge and competences acquired, the identification of the learning outcomes achieved through the placement, and a personal final assessment).
In addition, the student’s active participation in group tutorials and their involvement in defining their training project will also be assessed.
