Support for Students

Tutorial Action Plan

The Tutorial Action Plan (PAT) is an institutional programme aimed at supporting, guiding, and assisting students throughout their time at the university. It forms part of the commitment to teaching quality and seeks to promote academic success, integration into university life, and the personal and professional development of students.

Inclusion and Specific Educational Support Needs (NESE)

The UAB Support Programme for Students with Specific Educational Support Needs (NESE) aims to ensure full inclusion and equal opportunities for students with disabilities or specific learning difficulties.

Through personalized support, it offers needs assessment, individual tutoring, adapted technological resources, and mobility and accessibility services on campus.

It also promotes career guidance and employability through the UAB Impuls programme, and provides complementary services such as psycho-pedagogical support, peer support (support students with credit recognition), specific grants, and the MeetUp Inclusió initiative for students with ASD.

The programme is based on principles of autonomy, normalization, equity, participation, and shared responsibility, and offers faculty guidance on inclusive teaching methodologies and material adaptation.

In this way, the UAB fosters an accessible, inclusive university committed to diversity.

Tutoresport-UAB

The Tutoresport-UAB Programme, active since the 1996–1997 academic year, is the first programme of its kind in Spain and is aimed at high-level athletes enrolled at the UAB.

It allows students to combine academic and sports activities with the support of a tutor —a PhD candidate or teaching and research staff member from their Faculty—, recognizes six RAC credits, facilitates training on campus, and promotes the representation of the UAB in official competitions in Catalonia and Spain.

The programme admits athletes with official recognition (ADO, ADOP, DAN, DARE, ANC, ARC plans), participants in international university competitions, or the top three finishers at the Spanish University Championships.

It is overseen by the Vice-Rectorate for Studies and Quality, driven by the Vice-Rectorate for Students and Employability, coordinated by the Vice-Rectorate for Campus and Sustainability, and managed by the Physical Activity Service (SAF).

On the programme’s website you will find links to key sections such as admission requirements, registration, renewal, documentation, contact, and calendar, as well as sections on benefits, training, featured athletes, Sport at the UAB, and programme agreements.

To date, more than 1,200 athletes have taken part in this programme.

Psycho-pedagogical support

The UAB Equality and Diversity Service offers psycho-pedagogical support to students in order to foster their learning and well-being throughout their university studies.

Its main objective is to enrich students’ academic and personal experience, enhance their engagement in their own learning process, and ease the transition from upper secondary school to university.

The service operates along two main lines: an assistance-based one, providing individualized support for students with learning difficulties, and a set of specific programmes that include prevention, guidance, and integration actions aimed at reducing dropout rates and improving university inclusion.

Its main actions include teacher training and guidance, the management of emergency grants, monitoring of the Tutorial Action Plan, support for students with difficulties, coordination of the Brúixola transition project, collaboration in the Ítaca-Santander scholarship programme, and support for unique projects and cross-disciplinary initiatives.

Healthcare Service (SAS)

The UAB Healthcare Service (SAS) provides comprehensive support to the university community in the areas of prevention, health promotion, assistance, and research. It is part of the Area of Risk Prevention and Healthcare and aims to ensure a healthy and safe environment, supported by a qualified professional team. The service identifies health issues, responds to enquiries, and, when necessary, refers individuals to hospital services. It also promotes health education initiatives, evaluates the efficiency of available resources, and fosters research to improve the well-being and quality of life of students and staff.
