Social Security Contributions

Following a legislative change, as of January 2024, all students undertaking curricular placements are required to contribute to the Social Security system.

In order to process the registration of contribution periods, it is necessary to have the Social Security Number (NUSS) recorded in the academic record. For this reason, students must check the personal data registered in the UAB’s computer system and update their NUSS if necessary.

On the Social Security website, the acronym NSS is used, which corresponds to what is referred to as NUSS in our academic record management databases.

All students wishing to undertake curricular placements must have a NUSS, as it is mandatory. Students who do not have a NUSS will not be able to start their placement.
