Miquel Torregrossa receives the Excellence in Career Award at the first Serra Húnter Talent Recognition Ceremony
Miquel Torregrossa, Professor of Sport Psychology at the UAB and researcher at the IRE-UAB, has been awarded the Excellence in Career Award as part of the first Serra Húnter Talent Recognition Ceremony. The award highlights a well-established career in research, teaching, and knowledge transfer in the field of sport psychology.

The event took place on Wednesday, July 9, in the gardens of Palau Robert, marking the first institutional gathering aimed at highlighting the impact of faculty members within Catalan public universities. The ceremony was attended by the academic director of the Serra Húnter Program, Lluís Marsal, the Honourable Minister of Research and Universities, Núria Montserrat, as well as representatives from across the Catalan university system.
During the evening, the Serra Húnter Awards were presented for the first time, with five distinct categories. Miquel Torregrossa, Professor of Sport Psychology at the UAB, researcher at the Sport Research Institute (IRE-UAB), and member of the Research Group in Sport and Physical Activity Psychology (GEPE), was honoured with the Excellence in Career Award.
Dr. Torregrossa holds a PhD in Psychology and a Master’s in Sport Psychology. He has a solid research trajectory focused on sport and exercise psychology, with a particular interest in athletic careers, transitions, and dual careers. He has participated in over 26 research projects, coordinating several national R&D projects and Erasmus+ Sport initiatives. He has supervised numerous doctoral theses and is the author of over 100 scientific articles and around twenty books and book chapters. He currently co-directs the HENAC R&D project – Healthy Environments Throughout the Athletic Career, which aims to improve athletes' well-being and support throughout their professional journey.
This award recognises his sustained contributions to research, teaching, and knowledge transfer, and highlights his commitment to quality and the social impact of university research in the field of sport.
