This week we conclude the series of talks and workshops that have been organised by the Observatory in November and the beginning of December. They have been funded by Pacto de Estado contra la Violencia de Género and Ministerio de la Presidencia, Relaciones con las Cortes e Igualdad.

The series of talks consisted on a roundtable on November 20: “Men facing sexual violence”, with the presentation of Ritxar Bacete, anthropologist, social worker and author of the book Nuevos hombres buenos. La masculinidad en la era del feminismo; Lionel Delgado, philosopher, sociologist, and PhD student on urbanism, feminism and masculinity models; Oriol Rios, doctor in Sociology and member of Homes en Diàleg; and Daniel Tejedor, technician of the Men's Care Service at Barcelona City Council. The event was moderated by the doctor in Sociology Enrico Mora. The conference “Cuéntalo” by the writer and journalist Cristina Fallarás will also be part of this series. It had to be delayed for reasons beyond the organisation, but the new date will be soon announced, and the conference will take place in March 2020.

On the other hand, the series of workshops consisted on a Self-defence workshop for women, delivered by Karin Konkle. She is a graduate in Gender Studies and a coach of several martial arts and feminist self-defence courses. The second workshop was “Management of assaults to repair damage”, organised by the group Fil a l’Agulla. The goal of this workshop was to share tools and information about the management of sexist assaults, specifically in associative areas. Fil a l’Agulla is a cooperative that supports people and groups in awareness processes with a gender perspective.
