Rural world, energy and the fight for dignity

Colloquium with Jaume Franquesa, professor at the University of Buffalo (New York) and visiting professor of the Master's in History of Science at the UAB, Pobles Vius, a collective of people and entities concerned about the biogas plant project in la Sentiu de Sió and united by "the desire to live in this land in a dignified and healthy way", other neighbors of the region and, as always, the attending public.

Jaume Franquesa is an anthropologist specializing in environmental conflicts, history of energy, and the author of the book Power struggles, translated into Spanish as Molinos y gigantes: La lucha por la dignidad, la sobiranía energía y la transición ecológica ("Mills and giants: The struggle for dignity, energy sovereignty, and the ecological transition"). This book, one of the first of its kind internationally, clearly and rigorously demonstrates that no true "green transition" can be dictated by the energy oligopoly and how it is essential to listen to the voices and knowledge of those who inhabit rural areas and refuse to be silenced.
