XYLONET

Thematic Network for the Study of Archaeological Wood Remains.

The purpose of the XYLONET Thematic Network is to fill the information gap regarding the origin and development of botanical, ecological, and technical knowledge related to wood as a resource among the societies that inhabited the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic and Canary Islands.

The network aims to promote communication among those studying archaeological wood remains, fostering the exchange of ideas and encouraging collaboration. The main objective is to stimulate the development and implementation of new methodologies and analytical techniques for studying archaeological wood. Additionally, the network seeks to overcome the dispersion and fragmentation of existing information, fostering exchange and collaboration between the different approaches to studying heritage wood in this geographical area.

With this integrative approach, the network aspires to identify the inherent challenges in studying archaeological wood in these regions and develop a flexible, standardized protocol for systematic analysis. This will promote a unified approach to effectively addressing the challenges and opportunities posed by research in this field, which is crucial for understanding our historical and cultural past.
