As teachers, we all know for a class to work well, it’s important to know your students and to show them that you care about them. Also, nowadays, diversity is part and parcel of our classroom, and we need to cater to all of our students’ individual learning needs.

By creating a sense of community and fostering group cohesion, our students will feel the classroom is a safe environment to make mistakes and learn. They will drop their affective filters, which will definitely contribute to improving their attitude towards the foreign language and their learning process.

In this hands-on course, I’ll give you practical tried-and-tested activities to involve your students and make them feel engaged and wanting to express their opinions and participate in English. I’ll also demonstrate ideas to differentiate learning for your students and get them all on board and making progress with their English!

1. The importance of bonding and group cohesion:

• Activities to get to know your students better
• Creating a safe and positive learning environment
• Strategies to reduce students' affective filter
• Activities that promote trust and emotional safety

2. Encouraging student participation and voice:

• Techniques to give students space to express their opinions
• Engaging communicative and inclusive classroom activities

3. Differentiation and inclusion in the English classroom:

• Tools to adapt tasks to different learning paces and needs
• Strategies to support progress for all students

4. Practical application in the classroom:

• Designing your own activities
• Sharing and peer-evaluating classroom proposals

The course is practical, collaborative, and hands-on. Sessions will include:

1. Live demonstrations of classroom-tested activities
2. Group dynamics and interactive tasks
3. Reflection on teaching practice
4. Creation of classroom-ready resources and activities

Assessment will be ongoing and formative, based on:

• Active participation and attendance to at least 80% of the sessions.
• Creation and presentation of a session tailored to the teacher’s own teaching context.
• A final reflection on key takeaways and how they will be implemented in participants' own classrooms.

Aquesta activitat està reconeguda com a Formació Permanent del Professorat pel Departament d'Educació i Formació Professional de la Generalitat de Catalunya. 

A més de l'assistència al 80% de les hores de connexió síncrones, per tenir dret al certificat caldrà la superació del 100% de les tasques plantejades. Per això, tant l’assistència a les sessions, com la superació de la proposta de feina autònoma són necessàries per a la certificació del curs.

Requeriments per als assistents:

• Recommended English level: B2 (CEFR) or above.
• Some teaching experience in English or interest in applying activities in the classroom.
• Willingness to actively engage in the course dynamics.

Condicions técniques d’accés i de participació:

• Bona qualitat de la connexió a Internet.
• Coneixements bàsics suficients per a accedir a la plataforma de videoconnexió Teams i al campus virtual on es desenvoluparà la formació.
• Càmera i micròfon operatius, els quals, durant les sessions síncrones en línia, han de romandre oberts en funció de les activitats i a requeriment de la formadora.
