Academic Training

Jobs bank and placements

Jobs Bank and Placements Unit

Unit in charge of job placement and internship opportunities management for the FUABformació's students.

External academic placements can be curricular or non-curricular.

- Curricular ones form part of each syllabus, which determines their duration, and they count towards ECTS credits.
- Non-curricular ones do not form part of the syllabus and are totally voluntary on the student's part. They must be directly related to the course being followed and must take up no more than half the study load for an academic year (750 hours). An academic year is taken to be the period between September of one year and September of the next.

To undertake a placement, students must meet the following requirements.

•    They must be enrolled on the university programme to which the basic competences to be acquired on the placement are linked.
•    In the case of curricular placements, they must be enrolled on the associated subject within the corresponding syllabus.
•    They must not be employed by the partner organisation where they wish to undertake the placement or be related up to the second degree of kinship to a manager or external tutor.

Insurance

All students on the master's degree are covered by the School's insurance at the time of enrolment.

Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona subscribes to educational cooperation agreements on curricular placements. For a placement to take place, company, student and school must subscribe to such an agreement.

Students may not, under any circumstances, begin a placement without the relevant agreement in place. One of the purposes of the agreement document is to ensure proper cover in the event of an accident.

All placement agreements for programmes at the School must be arranged through the Jobs Bank and Placements Unit of Fundació UAB.

Placement tutor

All students are assigned an academic placement tutor who keeps them informed about their assessments and provides guidance.

Periodically, the Schools post job offers and placement opportunities on their respective websites and on social media.

University School of Tourism and Hotel Management

Our students have various career guidance and job-finding activities at their disposal

  • EUTDHTestimonial sessions and experts in this sector

Each semester, we schedule on-site and/or online sessions in which graduates from the School talk about their experience and professional practice, their business ventures, and placement or employment opportunities with their establishments or organisations. Sessions are also arranged with speakers representing entities and with experts and serving professionals: to raise awareness about new professions and initiatives within the tourism and hotels sector.

  • Workshop: University-Meets-Business

The Workshop is an annual get-together between the university and the business sector to network and discover opportunities for employment and placements: boosting our graduates' chances in the labour market. The event is open to all the School's students and ex-students.

It attracts representatives from leading companies in the tourism, hotels and leisure sector.

School of Prevention and Integral Safety and Security

  • Professional dialogues and sessions with experts in this sector

Each year, the School schedules a series of sessions in which former students now working in prevention, safety and security talk about their own experiences in the labour market and offer advice. These former students generally come from fields like workplace safety, public security coordination, private security management and private investigation.

There are also on-site or online sessions in which experts and professionals talk about current issues in the sector.
