The 8th UAB Teaching Innovation Conference, held on 14 and 15 May, concluded with the presentation of the Teaching Excellence Awards, which this year introduced a collective category for the first time. The project Socialitzem el TFG from the Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts has received an honourable mention in this category.

The 13th National Congress and 7th International Congress on University Service-Learning (ApS(U)13), held from April 22 to 24, 2026, in Bilbao, has established itself as a leading forum for the university’s social commitment. With more than 280 registered participants and over 150 contributions in the form of presentations and posters, the event highlighted the growing interest in service-learning (ApS), an educational approach that combines academic learning with community service.

The UAB Humanities Library is hosting the exhibition “Research with Social Impact: Final Degree Projects with Service-Learning”, a showcase of scientific posters corresponding to Final Degree Projects carried out by students from the Faculty of Education and Psychology using the Service-Learning methodology.

The call is open again for social or environmental organizations and public institutions to submit project proposals that can be developed by UAB students using Service-Learning (ApS) and Challenge-Based Learning (ABR) methodologies.

This December, the sixth GUIDE on aspects related to the Service-Learning methodology was published. The study of the social impact of university service-learning is essential to understand its effectiveness and sustainability.

Last October, 56 faculty members from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona took part in one of the two sessions (24 and 32 participants) of the third edition of the training course titled "Supervising a Final Degree Project with Service-Learning: How Do I Do It? Exploring Supervised Teaching Committed to the Community," organized by the Service-Learning Office (ApS) and the UAB Training Unit, through a customized training format.

The new guide for the introduction of the SDGs and global justice in undergraduate and master's degree reports at the UAB, written by Xènia Gavaldà on behalf of the Fundació Autònoma Solidària, highlights the introduction of Service Learning (SL) and Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) as key methodologies to address the global challenges of society from the different fields of study offered by the university.
