Training
To successfully carry out Service-Learning (SL) projects and meet quality standards, it is important to receive prior training. For this reason, the Service-Learning Office offers a range of training and information sessions tailored to the different stakeholders involved in a Service-Learning project.

Service-Learning Training courses at UAB
- “How to supervise a TFG with SL methodology? Exploring supervised teaching with a commitment to the territory”, aimed at teachers who currently supervise or would like to supervise a Bachelor's Thesis (TFG) or Master's Thesis (TFM) within a Service-Learning (SL) framework. This is a 2-hour session held at the end of October, providing a brief theoretical introduction to Service-Learning and, above all, practical tools to support effective thesis supervision. This training is recognized by the UAB Training Unit and can be found in its Continuing Education programme.
- “Let’s Do Service-Learning!” This training course is aimed at anyone interested in learning about Service-Learning. It consists of 6 hours distributed across 2–3 sessions and takes place during March and April. The course combines a solid theoretical foundation, participatory activities, and practical exercises to help participants design and integrate Service-Learning into their teaching practice, especially within academic courses. This training is recognized by the UAB Training Unit and will later be included in its Continuing Education programme.
- Finally, if several lecturers from the same faculty, degree programme, department, research group, or innovation group are interested, the Service-Learning Office recommends requesting a tailored training, as this allows the course content to be adapted to the specific needs of the teaching staff and their particular field of knowledge. The training may last up to eight hours, and a minimum of ten participants must be enrolled. The Training Unit launches two calls per year, which can be consulted here. During the 2025–26 academic year, the Faculties of Medicine and of Psychology carried out tailored Service-Learning training courses recognized by the UAB Training Unit.
- "Training for Partner Organizations in Supporting University Students in Service-Learning and Challenge-Based Projects”, aimed at professionals working in social, environmental, or cultural organizations, as well as public institutions, who have collaborated or would like to collaborate in Service-Learning (SL) or Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) projects. The course provides a theoretical foundation on these methodologies, practical resources, and participatory activities to support the effective mentoring and guidance of university students. This training is offered as a micro-credential recognized by UAB, worth 1 ECTS credit. It consists of two 3-hour face-to-face sessions, together with 19 hours of independent work and assessed assignments. Fee: €60.
- “How to Survive a Service-Learning Bachelor's or Master's Thesis?”, aimed at all students who have been assigned a final degree project (Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis) based on Service-Learning (SL). This is a 1-hour online session, held between November and December, which provides a brief introduction to the Service-Learning approach, along with practical guidance and recommendations for successfully completing the project. The session often includes the participation of students who have already completed their Service-Learning theses.
- “Make Your Final Project Leave a Lasting Impact! Discover Service-Learning”. This is a 1-hour online information session, held in March, aimed at students who will be undertaking their Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis in the following academic year and who want their project to be more than just another academic assignment by generating a real impact on society.
