New lines of cooperation of FUAB Formació
FUAB Formació School establishes new lines of territorial cooperation with the municipalities of Santa Maria de Miralles, Orpí, and Carme.
The FUAB Formació School and the municipalities of Santa Maria de Miralles, Orpí, and Carme have established mechanisms for cooperation between the territory and the university, with the aim of identifying the real needs of the area firsthand and aligning them with Service-Learning (ApS) projects. This agreement was formalized during a working meeting on November 28 at Vall de la Riera de Carme, with the officials responsible for the Strategic Territorial Development Plan.
These ApS projects are part of the FUAB Formació School’s programs in Archiving and Records Management and Tourism and Hotel Management. For the first time, both fields of study will work together to respond through final projects to the real needs of the community, the territory, and public entities and administrations.
On behalf of the UAB Foundation, participants included the Head of Continuing Education at the FUAB Formació School, a member of the UAB ApS Commission, and co-director of one of the projects, Ariadna Morente; the director of La Foneria and co-director of one of the projects, Gerard Corbella; and the coordinator of the final projects of the Tourism degree, Inma Díaz. The visit also included students Maria Pagès, Lizza Katherina Suero, and Laia Masero, who were able to gain close insight into the valley and contextualize the starting point of their research.
Representing the municipalities, the meeting was attended by the technician responsible for coordinating the plan, Jofre Rodrigo, who also represented the Mayor of Orpí, Jordi Reixachs; the Mayor of Carme, Marc Sánchez; and the Mayor of Santa Maria de Miralles, Yolanda Ruiz.
This session has been key to establishing a shared framework and ensuring that the ApS projects accurately respond to the social, cultural, and economic demands of the territory. The projects are currently in the initial phase and will be developed over the coming months.
