56 Faculty Members Attend the Third Edition of Specialized Training for Supervising Final Degree Projects Using Service-Learning Methodology at UAB
Last October, 56 faculty members from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona took part in one of the two sessions (24 and 32 participants) of the third edition of the training course titled "Supervising a Final Degree Project with Service-Learning: How Do I Do It? Exploring Supervised Teaching Committed to the Community," organized by the Service-Learning Office (ApS) and the UAB Training Unit, through a customized training format.
Primarily aimed at Teaching and Research Staff (PDI) interested in supervising final degree projects using the Service-Learning methodology, the training was delivered by two experienced professors in the field: Eva Castells (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine), who led the session on Tuesday 21st in the afternoon, and Paloma Valdivia (Faculty of Education Sciences), who led the session on Wednesday 29th at midday. Additionally, technical staff from the Service-Learning Office also participated in both sessions.
The goal of these sessions was to provide attendees with practical tools and specific knowledge to take on the role of supervisors for Final Degree Projects using the Service-Learning methodology, as well as to introduce the development of such projects within UAB. Through this initiative, a collaborative learning environment was created, allowing participants to share experiences, concerns, questions, and strategies regarding the effective implementation of Service-Learning in their academic fields through theoretical content and practical activities.
With enthusiastic participation and growing interest, this third edition of the training highlighted the commitment of UAB’s faculty to transformative pedagogical methodologies aligned with community needs.
