The Faculty of Translation and Interpreting (FTI) in UAB held the award ceremony for the 2nd edition of the Jocs Florals de la Plaça del Coneixement on 24 April. This year, 28 students took part in the literary contest. There were 41 writings in total.

The event took place in the FTI room Carles Ribas. The ceremony started off with the speech of Anna Gil, coordinator for Students, Promotion and Coordination, Albert Branchadell, Vice-Dean for Students and Mobility in the Faculty of Education, Marta Bertrán, and the Vice-Dean of the University Community, Employability, Mobility and Internationalization in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Manuel Santirso.

Subsequently, following the FMUAB18 slogan, #UABRefuge: Autònoma Shelters, some students read the poem "Podries” by Joana Raspall (1913-2013) in different languages (Korean, Arabic and Catalan). The author captures in this poem the pain that refugees feel when they are forced to leave their homes because of the war.

As closure, awards for own creation and translation works were delivered. Winners received Paperblanks notebooks and a gift voucher for the bookshop Abacus. All participants received a little book with a compilation of all the works presented in this year’s edition of Jocs Florals.

These were the winners in the two categories:
