Spring celebration in UAB with loads of activities

Primavera a la UAB
Plaça Cívica became the hub of an event that celebrated spring (Primavera a la UAB) and the International Dance Day on 29 April. The UAB community had the chance to take part in plenty of activities in the entities’ and services’ fair while also enjoying different musical and dance performances.

The celebration of Primavera a la UAB and International Dance Day, on 29 April, started with a K-pop (Korean pop) exhibition in charge of the students’ society Korean Club. The whole community had the opportunity to enjoy a day filled with activities in Plaça Cívica from 12:00 p.m up until 4:00 p.m.

Attendees could visit the entities’ and services’ fair and take part in different activities throughout the day: they were able to put their knowledge on feminism to the test on a feminist Trivial contest, organized by the Observatory for Equality; they also got to practice languages with the Taboo game; played badminton in a court set up in Plaça Cívica, and get to know first-hand the role of academic groups’ Student Representatives.

Many performances were presented in the scenic space throughout the day, like Ramé’s, the band that won the Autònoma Actua Award, and dance performances in charge of the beginners’ and advanced contemporary dance classes in UAB. The theatre and dance company Los Moñekos also wanted to join the fun by celebrating a wedding (We-ding) that ended up with the Plaça Cívica full on laughter and rice.

Also the volunteers of the Shelter Programme from Fundació Autònoma Solidària (FAS) prepared a gymkhana in which participants had to face the difficulties that refugees encounter on their journey to another country whilst also testing their knowledge on migration and refuge. FAS also organized a solidary market with second-hand clothes. Benefits from this market were then donated to an entity for refugees.

Members of the ecologist society Assemblea Ecologista de la UAB organised an Ecofira with the question “Is UAB sustainable?” as a starting point, whose aim was to raise awareness on sustainability and ecology within the student community. Likewise, from 1:00 p.m. onwards attendees could enjoy a solidary traditional lunch against food waste in order to make the most out of that food that isn’t consumed and collect non-perishable foods for Banc dels Aliments. Around 120 servings were delivered.

Towards the end of the day, winners for the Exchange Photo Contest, organised by the Dinamització Comunitària Unit and for the Erotic Stories Contest, organized by FAS. Finally, the society Swing UAB invited all attendees to participate in a swing jam session. Therefore, the Primavera a la UAB and International Dance Day celebration got to its end with the Plaça Cívica filled with people dancing.
