Culture is more alive than ever at the UAB. What is Cultura en Viu?
Cultura en Viu wants to turn the UAB campus into a place for artistic creation. For more than 31 years, we have been working for the entire university community to satisfy their cultural interests thanks to the support of artistic creation, formation and offering (theatre, music, cinema, dance, writing, etc.).
After two years affected by Covid-19 pandemic, our cultural offering was fully reactivated and, in 2021/2022, 155 activities were organised and 5,000 people participated. This year, Cultura en Viu is more committed than ever to keep culture alive within its exhibition and artistic production places, which can be found in Civica Square: Cinema, Theatre, Exhibition Hall and Formation Classrooms.
The Cinema, with a capacity of 190 people, offers a varied programme of screenings, documentaries, films, seminars, conferences and thematic cycles.
The Theatre, with a capacity of 100 people, promotes different dance, theatre and music shows made by professional or amateur producers. It is also a place that hosts other academic or institutional activities.
The Exhibition Hall, located on the ground floor of the Communication Library hosts various exhibitions throughout the academic year.
The activity “Viu la Cultura”, also known as cultural card, returns this academic year. It is an opportunity to enjoy our cultural offering. It is also a way to validate 2ECTS and broaden your cultural background with different artistic proposals. The registration fee is 5€ for the whole course.
On the other hand, Cultura en Viu dedicates resources to artistic formation. Our Formation Classrooms (dance, music, theatre, writing) bring the opportunity to participate in different artistic courses and workshops, which are available for beginners or people who have an intermediate level in various disciplines. Each of these courses are rewarded with academic credits. The advanced levels of each course, which are known as Stable Groups, require more dedication but, at the same time, the credit reward is higher.
The Dance Classroom, which is specialized in choreographic formation and contemporary dance technique, offers introductory and intermediate levels of this dance modality. Moreover, it is available an introductory course to learn more about urban dances.
The Music Classroom is a place specialized in musical production. Several music groups participate in concerts and performances organised in the university campus: our choir, our chamber choir and our orchestra. Also, it is available a theoretical and practical course for voice technique.
The Theatre Classroom promotes different formation activities. Currently, there is a stable group of acting and staging. Within the formation offer, there are many courses related to the theatrical interpretation or the creation of a show.
The Writing Classroom, specialized in literary creation and writing techniques, offers creative writing course to improve your literary style and to write shorts fiction stories.
