Marc Guillem presents movement and learning strategies at the EMMA 2026 Conference in Murcia
The IRE-UAB researcher discussed the educational purposes of integrating motor skills in the classroom within an initiative promoted by the Carlos Alcaraz Foundation and the Regional Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of the Region of Murcia.
Marc Guillem's participation in the EMMA 2026 Conference analyzed, through a neuroscience framework, how physical activity and movement enhance cognitive development, performance, and learning inside the classroom.
The Luis Vives assembly hall at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Murcia, located at the Espinardo Campus, hosted the Conference on Motor Strategies for Learning Improvement (EMMA). This teacher training activity took place on May 26 and 27, organized by the Center for Teachers and Resources (CPR) of the Region of Murcia. The event was part of the MyA: Movimiento y Aprendizaje project, an educational innovation and research initiative in which IRE-UAB collaborates alongside the Neuroeducation Chair of the University of Barcelona, the University of Murcia, and the Cajal Neuroscience Center - CSIC.
Researcher Marc Guillem participated as a speaker on Tuesday, May 26, delivering a presentation titled "Finalidades y estrategias didácticas para integrar el movimiento en los procesos de aprendizaje" and on Wednesday 27 in the expert panel conference "Educar en movimiento". The session directly addressed how human movement can alter, enhance, and regulate the cognitive processes required to carry out daily activities. Based on core scientific evidence connecting physical activity and cognition through neuroscience, the speaker analyzed its positive impact on essential student skills such as interaction, socialization, imagination, planning, and communication.
These practical methodologies align with the frameworks established by the author in published books such as "Educar en movimiento" and "Cuando el movimiento facilita el aprendizaje: La relación entre activity física y cognición según la Neurociencia". Throughout the event, speakers emphasized the importance of delivering practical strategies to the teaching staff to structure motor skills inside Primary Education classrooms. The framework was enriched by lectures from Anna Forés, Carme Trinidad, and José Luis Trejo, alongside specialized workshops developed by Daniel N. Ardoy, Eric Roig, and Bea Rodríguez focusing on cognitive development through movement.
